Cheryl Kilodavis

Full Biography

Cheryl Kilodavis is the award winning author of the break-through bestseller My Princess Boy and is an expert on acceptance, diversity and inclusion.  Her controversial book, aimed at both kids and parents, explores gender identity and tolerance and has the distinction of taking over the top spot from Dr. Seuss’s beloved Oh, The Places You’ll Go! on Amazon’s bestseller list for children’s picture books. An internationally renowned speaker and corporate change strategist, Cheryl has been featured in the New York Times, Wall Street Journal, the London Times, Parenting Magazine and on the Today Show, NPR, Dr. Drew, Dr. Phil and many other media outlets. Cheryl speaks to corporations worldwide, as well as government groups, universities, and parenting organizations, providing thought-provoking perspectives and relevant tools for change.  Cheryl has presented to organizations including Facebook, HomeStreet Bank, Rutgers University, the National Bullying Conference, the Gender Odyssey Conference, the LGBT Task Force and the National Black Justice Coalition. Recipient of a Harvey Milk Diversity Equality Award as well as being named to the list of eHow’s Shift Top 100 Women, Cheryl is bi-racial of African American and Caucasian heritage who dedicates her time to providing tools and services to foster conversations of accepting differences.   Her own exploration of acceptance - for herself and her children - led to the idea for her groundbreaking book about her younger son who likes “pretty things,” including sparkly dresses, the color pink and ballet costumes.  Originally written to explain her son’s fondness for pretty things to teachers and fellow students, My Princess Boy became a movement of acceptance for every child who has ever felt left out or misunderstood solely because they’re different. In addition to her work as a writer and speaker, Cheryl runs a brand strategy consulting business in Seattle. She offers coaching, seminars and consulting for online and offline brands including training on marketing, brand, web strategy and leadership for technology, media and Internet companies. Cheryl holds a BS in business from the University of the Pacific, and an MBA and Executive Leadership Program Certification from Seattle University.  While in college, Cheryl worked for Upward Bound and was also the president of the African American Student Union.  She is a selected member of Beta Gamma Sigma International Business Society and a member of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority Incorporated.   An avid women’s soccer player and non-fiction reader, Cheryl lives in Seattle with her former high school sweetheart turned husband, and her two young sons.   BRING CHERYL TO YOU!
